Unfortunately I don't think any platform holder is interested in this, as it lessens user lock-in. Another check that needs to be implemented and maintained. where saves would just break if you don't have the DLC expansion on the other platform. And let's not get even started on MTA, DLC etc. You have to consider a lot of details like this and design your save structure/localization process around it. Example for transferring MH4U save between JP and EU version (I think it was 4U): Asian characters were replaced by ? because the font they used in EU ver didn't support them. Example for Monster Hunter World, where I transferred my PS4 save to PC: If you attempt to view guild cards you have received on the PS4 platform, the PC version just gets stuck loading PS4-exclusive items get dummied out, affecting your sets etc. ![]() Speaking as somebody who has manually transferred saves between different regions of the same game as well as platforms, there is always some functionality that breaks in the process even when the save structure is shared. Double and tripple dippers who want contunued progress and not to re-play from scratch are a tiny minority and never going to be worth the investment required to do it right, consistently and safe/securely. That would drive the industry to cater towards it naturally. Instead of having the same game on multiple platforms, we should seek to own the kinds of games that would benefit from this in ecosystems that allow us to play and progress in as many places/on as many devices as possible. the system is devauled when you can "insta-platinum" a game by importing some random or edited save from PC or somewhere. Platform differences/file formats/etc., difference between current versions of a title on different platforms, security on closed platforms (expolits), dealing with and prevention of achievement and trophy meddling e.g. It's possible for some games, especially ones with the game's own server-side saves, but there's all kinds of reasons why this won't happen for most games. It's holding things back like nothing else. With late improved multiplat releases and game services gaining in popularity this needs to happen, like NOW. Why isn't cross platform cloud saves a thing yet?
